Today Kaiya asked for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  After rummaging in the fridge for a minute, I said, “I can’t believe we’re entirely out of jelly.”

 Ethan said, “Well, we can always find an alien species and smush it up to make jelly.”

Me: “Wouldn’t it be easier to go to the store than into outer space to capture an alien?”

 Ethan: “I meant an alien species, like guava. They’re not native to Hawaii, you know.”

Elyse and I laughed for a good five minutes.
