Le Book Launch

Last night I had the book launch at Ala Moana Barnes & Noble. It was back in the cookbook nook. They’d taken out all the cookbooks and put out a ginormous display of my books. Don’t the colors look awesome on that wood? I mean, if you can see the colors. The flash on the little camera isn’t big enough.

And yes, I got to keep that huge banner, which is printed on a vinyl material. I think I’ll hang it out on front of my house.

We put out some treats. Elyse got a free hot chocolate from the super-nice CRM at Barnes & Noble. She spent most of her time running around with her friend from school.

Author Patricia Wood attended to hold my hand and make the audience laugh. Now I won’t be so nervous next time.

The manager showed me the Nook with my book featured, so they can sell many e-copies.

I began with a reading from the book, THE AMERICAN WAY OF HOUSEKEEPING, followed by readings from both the Shoko and Sue sections. Pat then began peppering me with bunches of really hard questions that I had to think about. You can tell she was a teacher. I answered well and, I think, without saying UM or UH. My husband says I tend to close my eyes when I talk. That’s because I’m THINKING. I can’t think with my eyes open, darn it! I’ll have to work on that. If you see me and I seem to be holding my eyes WIDE OPEN, that’s why. Because now I’m paranoid.

After this picture was taken, Cadillac ran out of camera memory and a whole bunch of other people showed. There were probably about 25-30 if you count my family, which I do.

All in all, great time. But next time someone other than my husband is going to be the designated photographer.

  1. Just sent you a couple of photos taken at the launch. Thought a comment here might save them from being deleted. Sorry to not have sent them sooner (am terrible about photo dissemination). Enjoyed your q&a and goodie treats–best wishes on your future signings!
